Lauren Ladov - Owner
Gardening has saved my life. As someone who deals with mental and physical health issues, gardening was one of the first things I found that actually made me feel better and provided a directly therapeutic outlet. I pursued learning about agriculture and gardening working in communities throughout New Jersey, Philadelphia and Atlanta, and recognizing along the way how much healing was happening all around me too.
Gardens provided some of the only safe outdoor spaces for children in dense urban neighborhoods, immigrant families were growing cultural crops to connect to their heritages in a new country, communities planting trees to grieve for loved one lost too soon. Meanwhile, sunflowers were pulling heavy metals out of toxic brownfield sites, flowers covered ugly chainlink fences and became abuzz with bees, fruit trees dripped delicious treats for all.
Since these formative experiences, I’ve been focused on cultivating landscapes that are healing for the people and ecology alike.
I have 10 years experience working with several Atlanta-based nonprofits, supporting ethical and equitable food production and access, a Permaculture Design Certificate from the University of Oregon and a Horticulture Therapy Certificate from the University of Florida.
When not in the garden, I spend time hiking, mushroom foraging and creating nature-inspired arts and crafts.
